Thank you for expressing interest in ForKids. We appreciate that you want to help with our annual Back to School Drive! Below are the descriptions of the volunteer jobs, and available volunteer shifts.

Envelope Stuffing

Role: Help us with our event mailings for the Back to School Drive by stuffing, addressing, and stamping envelopes!

Type: Individual Opportunity or Small Group (5 or smaller)

Location: 4200 Colley Ave. Norfolk

Available Shifts:

  • July 24 th (2+ hour shift within the hours of 9am-5pm, you choose the timeframe!)
  • July 25 th (2+ hour shift within the hours of 9am-5pm, you choose the timeframe!)
  • July 26 th (2+ hour shift within the hours of 9am-5pm, you choose the timeframe!)
  • July 27 th (2+ hour shift within the hours of 9am-5pm, you choose the timeframe!)

Supply Delivery

Role: Load, and deliver school supply donations from our main office to the supply drive location (upstairs of Good Mojo)

Type: Individual Opportunity, Requires a vehicle

Location: 4200 Colley Ave. Norfolk, and 2411 Granby St. in Norfolk

Available Shifts:

  • August 11 th (1-2 hour shift within the hours of 9am-5pm, you choose the timeframe!)
  • August 15 th (1-2 hour shift within the hours of 9am-5pm, you choose the timeframe!)
  • August 24 th (1-2 hour shift within the hours of 9am-5pm, you choose the timeframe!)

Preparation

Role: Stuff backpacks with designated supplies, and help organize supply donations as they come in.

Type: Group Opportunity (15 max), Family Friendly, and Individual Opportunity

Location: 2411 Granby St. in Norfolk

Available Shifts:

  • August 15 th 3:30pm-6:00pm
  • August 18 th 10am-12:30pm
  • August 19 th 10am-12:30pm or 1:30pm-4:00pm
  • August 20 th 1pm-3:30pm
  • August 25 th 10am-12:30pm, or 1:00pm-3:00pm

Distribution

Role: Locate and distribute client’s backpacks

Type: Individual Opportunity (no minors, max 3 per shift)

Location: 2411 Granby St. in Norfolk

Available Shifts:

  • August 28 th 10am-1pm, 12:30pm-3:30pm, 3:00pm-5:30pm
  • August 29 th 10am-1pm, 12:30pm-3:30pm, 3:00pm-5:30pm
  • August 30 th 10am-1pm, 12:30pm-3:30pm, 3:00pm-5:30pm
