Bay Area Music Project ("BAMP") is an after school music and arts program providing children, regardless of financial background, access to music instruction from talented teaching artists right at their school.
BAMP is a young non-profit ready to expand to other schools and cities but more board members are needed first. We are seeking board members with backgrounds in technology, human resources, marketing and/or finance to help reach more children throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Prior board experience and contacts with your local school leaders are a plus. Board meetings happen once a month and often as a conference call. Music background is not necessary so don't worry. Board term may begin at a time that works for you.
To learn more, visit our website www.bayareamusicproject.org.
We look forward to having you be a part of the action in taking BAMP to the next level in creating something meaningful so more children experience the confidence-boosting experience when expressing themselves through music. Being on this board is highly rewarding and a good use of your time. These kids need your passion, skills and interest.

Mission Statement
To provide an opportunity where all children--regardless of circumstances-- can thrive socially and academically through music education that promotes creative expression, teamwork, discipline and social responsibility.
Description
Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) is an El Sistema-inspired after school music education program serving the social, emotional, cultural and academic needs of children. Alameda Music Project, the flagship chapter program, operates 5 days per week, providing on-site music instruction to over 100 children at Maya Lin School, an arts-integrated school in the socio-economically diverse West End of Alameda.
All students participating in BAMP receive tuition-free music instruction for at least 2 hours a week plus all necessary musical supplies (instruments, song books, etc), a nutritious snack and homework assistance . We provide children with musical instruction and performance experiences in a collaborative, orchestral environment that helps build confidence, compassion and teamwork. Children learn the importance of collaboration and cooperation in and outside the ensemble; they learn how to become one voice, and through their shared experience, grow stronger as individuals and as a community.
