ORGANIZATION: Friends of the Mississippi River
Please visit the new page to apply.
Just southeast of River Oaks Golf Course lies a riverfront bluff with stunning views of the Mississippi River and a special remnant bedrock bluff prairie. Thanks to Friends of the Mississippi River-led restoration efforts this site has been significantly improving over the past few years but there is more work to be done at this site. on Tuesday, August 15th from 6-8 PM, Volunteers are needed to work alongside FMR Ecologist Alex Roth to remove sumac, a shrubby tree that would otherwise overtake this vital habitat making room for the native prairie plants to thrive. Other tending or restoration tasks may also be needed.
To sign up and receive directions to the meeting spot, visit us at http://fmr.org/events/2017/08/15/remove-sumac-river-oaks-park. Capacity is limited and registration is required.
Registration closes August 15th, or upon reaching capacity.

Friends of the Mississippi River is proud to work with roughly 3,000 volunteers annually.
We keep volunteering simple, fun and satisfying -- there are no applications, and you can sign up for one event or several. We list events especially in need of volunteers here on VolunteerMatch.com, but maintain a full calendar of 60+ events a year at www.fmr.org/events.
Our project work includes conservation and restoration of natural areas and habitat, education on watershed protection issues, and organizing activities that connect the public to the Mississippi River.
