  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Assist CENV with their summer break camp, called SummerLand!

We are looking for people with skill to share with kids!

If you are talented in Yoga, Gymnatstics, Soccer, Baseball, Running, Swimming, Arts and Crafts, Music, Languages, Martial Arts, Dance, or anything else that you want to teach a group of eager children, THIS IS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU!

We seek volunteers to work with a great group of children (ages 5-12). You would facilitate group games, arts and crafts, sports, academic projects, and many other enriching experiences!

While guiding children through activities, you would also encourage children to develop positive character traits, such as creativity, empathy, and resilience.

This is a fun and meaningful chance to be a role model who helps children to become their best selves. You would have a great time spending your day playing and learning with enthusiastic and ceaselessly curious children.

The time commitment is at least 1 week.

You pick which weekday(s) and shift(s) work best for you within the hours of 9:00 AM- 5:00 pm. Even if you are only available for a few hours each week, your time would be very appreciated.

If you are eager to spread some joy into a child's life, we cannot wait to hear from you.

This is an especially great opportunity for college and high school students! In thanks for your commitment to improving the lives of children at our summer program, we would be happy to write a letter of recommendation and serve as a reference for future opportunities and college/scholarship applications.

Thank you so much!

Please email us at: info@communityenv.org

Since you will be working with children, some paper work/training is required.

Mission Statement

Community Empowerment Northern Virginia (CENV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with this core belief: when one plants a S.E.E.D. by Strengthening, Educating, Empowering and Developing, strong communities will grow. These services empower personal growth, support academic success and educate people toward developing self-sufficiency.

Description

Today’s society is challenged by an increasingly difficult world. Family problems, substance abuse, economic pressure, and the lure of gangs and delinquency threaten our youth physically and emotionally. Community Empowerment Northern Virginia is dedicated to providing community-based services that support, guide and inspire people to build life skills required to become resilient, self-sufficient adults. Using adult and peer mentoring to provide positive role models and promote skill development, Community Empowerment Northern Virginia strives to help build self-acceptance, strengthen school performance, and enhance executive functioning.

By providing people with positive role models in the community, Community Empowerment seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  • Provide people with a vital sense of belonging
  • Give people a sense that the greater community also cares about them
  • Move people forward on their way to conscious and self-sufficient adulthood
  • Support people on their journey to discover their true potential
  • Provide people with access to the resources necessary to achieve social and academic success
  • Help more people graduate high school and move on to higher education that supports their dreams
  • Create an array of services that complement the web of services already existing in our communities
