Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
ReefCI is a fantastic way to experience real world marine conservation efforts, while having great fun! You will get hands-on experience in ocean conservation protection through our various ongoing conservation projects. It is a great learning experience and your help is meaningful and rewarding!
Each day will differ but you will be helping in the following areas:
Lionfish invasive species control (spearing and dissecting lionfish)
Queen Conch surveys
Commercial fish surveys
Reef health surveys - ReefCI check & Coral watch
Whale shark monitoring
Coral reef bio-diversity and protection
The majority of people who volunteer with ReefCI are passionate about the environment and want to give something back. Everyone contributes regardless of his or her background and experience. Not a diver? No problem, we certify new divers too! You will be exploring a whole new world and helping to protect it as well.
