Volunteers from around the world come to our progressive community nestled in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. Volunteers arrive on a rotating basis- usually dedicating 12 months of service. Together, you form a team that supports and compliments our day to day operations of the Stanton Home households. This will include individual people care, housework, recreation, modified sports, arts and odd jobs. As a Stanton Home volunteer, you can expect to be empowered to manage your time and involvement so that the people with special needs are safe, healthy and well cared for. Everyone is treated with respect and appreciation. Your focus is on encouraging those with special needs to do what they can to the best of their abilities. Each volunteer has a staff mentor that helps you accomplish your own personal goes during your forty hours per week service. Room & board are provided as well as a 200 per month stipend during your stay. During the year, you will have four weeks of vacation to travel. We request your English is conversational and that you have a driver's license. Come be a part of this amazing family and share your life, skills, and talents with us.

Description
Stanton Home has been providing care for people with special needs since 1986. Our main house is located in Great Barrington Massachusetts in an old farmhouse and is surrounded by flower gardens, an organic vegetable garden, a weavery and a working farm. We have just recently opened two other houses in South Egremont, MA and New Canaan Connecticut, both very similar to our main house on a smaller scale. We currently have a total 10 residents, from ten to twelve volunteers from all over the world as well as full and part-time local staff. We believe that the most important thing in life is relationships. Everything else is how we give substance, value, and meaning to those relationships.
Volunteers form the team that run the day to day operations of the Stanton Home household. This will include individual people care, housework and odd jobs. Volunteers are expected to take initiative and responsibility, to manage their time and involvement so that the people with special needs are safe, healthy and well cared for while the daily work gets done. Everyone is treated with respect and appreciation. The volunteer's focus is on encouraging those with special needs to do what they can to the best of their abilities.
