ORGANIZATION: NATIVE PLANT SALVAGE FOUNDATION

The Native Plant Salvage Foundation now recruiting for an enthusiastic AmeriCorps Member to begin service in September or October 2017 for a 10.5-month term.

Apply today to be part of two-person staff team-in conjunction with dedicated volunteers & a board of directors-that carries out all the activities of the WSU Water Resources Program & Native Plant Salvage Project, conducting action projects and providing hands-on environmental education for people of all ages. We are seeking an individual who:

˖ is an enthusiastic learner ready for new challenges that will develop a range of skills;

˖ enjoys learning and working in an interdisciplinary manner;

˖works as part of a team, but who is independently driven and comfortable managing specific projects with minimal supervision but regular communication.

Our activities take place in a fast-paced environment, with multiple projects often occurring simultaneously and in different locations in the South Puget Sound region (mostly in Thurston County) and occasionally in other locations in the Salish Sea/Puget Sound region.

Providing hands-on education to protect and conserve water resources and habitat from the South Sound Prairies to the shores of Puget Sound since 1994.

Description

The Native Plant Salvage Foundation is a non-profit organization that is guided by a volunteer board of directors, and supported by a small but mighty crew of volunteers, supporters, educators and community partners.

As our name implies, we salvage native plants during the winter months at sites that are soon to be developed. Our programs also expand far beyond our winter salvages. We operate a holding beds for salvaged plants and nursery where we offer propagation workshops regularly. Our work also includes restoration activities as well as education and outreach in the fields of Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GIS), school programs, plant identification classes, and sustainable landscaping.
