Help staff a vacation hostel that raises funds to support the homeless during the cold-weather months. Belknap House Vacation Hostel operates from Memorial weekend until Columbus Day weekend every season. From Oct 15 to May 15 the location operates as a homeless shelter. The hostel operation provides up to 1/5 of the operating funds for the homeless shelter.

Vacation Hostel assistants are needed to help with reservations, manage the reception desk, answer guest questions, perform light cleaning, and help guests check in and check out.

Training will be provided for all interested volunteers. Volunteers will need to complete an application and undergo a background check.

The mission of Belknap House is to provide families in Belknap County, safe shelter when children are especially at-risk during homelessness, and to empower families to become self-sufficient and independent by providing opportunities of education and customized resource referrals for them.

Description

Belknap House provides emergency shelter for families in Belknap County New Hampshire. Belknap House has six bedrooms and 19 beds. We frequently have six families staying at one time. Belknap House opened in February 2017 and has been supporting families for the last five years. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities. Volunteers help the families, help maintain the shelter, support fund raising opportunities, and help manage the shelter. We will tailor a volunteer position based on your interests, skills, and availability. We welcome volunteers that can provide a few hours per month or a few hours per day.
