Summary: Meals at Home is seeking new members to join our Event Committee for an exciting year of event planning! You will put your people skills to work identifying and connecting with area business and community members for event support (auction items, event space, sponsorships, etc.) AND new event attendees. You will work with Meals at Home’s committees and staff to organize events and enhance the organization’s public standing and financial stability.

The goal of the Event Committee is to support the work of Meals at Home through planning, organizing, publicizing, and fundraising for fundraising events. The two major events on the schedule for 2018 are currently the May 2018 Annual Benefit and the October 2018 50 th Anniversary Gala. Candidates from all background are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Must demonstrate commitment to work in a team environment to enable Meals at Home to fulfill its mission
• No previous experience in event planning is necessary, but must be comfortable raising funds for a worthwhile organization
• Must be creative, self-motivated, knowledgeable and able to meet deadlines

Time Commitment

• Attendance at monthly committee meetings is required. Meetings may become more frequent closer to the events. Meetings are currently scheduled on Thursday mornings, but may also include some afternoon or evening meetings to accommodate members’ schedules.
• We anticipate that committee members will spend about 5 hours a week working on various projects with the potential for more time closer to the events
