irtual Coaches are needed! By volunteering as a virtual coach to a team of girls, you can make a difference in the lives of girls in our community. During the stressful time our country is facing, girls need you more than ever. As a virtual volunteer coach, you can unleash the strength, bravery, and limitless potential of girls right here in the DFW community. Just like the girls, many of our coaches are not runners. They are people just like YOU who take great pride and care in role modeling character, connectedness, and inner strength.

Girls on the Run is an empowerment program for girls in 3rd-8th grade that gives them skills and experiences to navigate their world confidently and to unleash their limitless potential! We encourage positive physical, emotional, mental and social development through a curriculum of engaging lessons and fun physical activities. At each season’s conclusion, the girls complete a celebratory 5k run that gives them a lifelong memory of accomplishment. Over the course of the program, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society.

How does it work?

Virtual teams will meet twice a week in the afternoons for 60 minutes. We are currently registering for our Spring season that begins the week of February 22nd and will end with the 5k celebration on April 24th. Virtual Coaches serve on coaching teams consisting of 2-3 coaches and 8-10 girls.

Through a simple online training course, you will gain access to all the resources you need to lead a small group of elementary or middle school girls in developing important life skills and healthy habits. It is our goal to ensure you are comfortable and equipped in supporting girls on your team. To ensure the program is consistent and rewarding for the girls and coaches, we provide curriculum books for the coaches and materials to facilitate the class. Coaches receive weekly emails during the program and the staff is happy to help with any issues.. Learn more and apply at www.gotrdfw.org/Coach
