Description
Un-Included from Illiteracy Introducing Kids Read for Encouragement, Action and Discovery (Kids R.E.A.D.)! Our Kids R.E.A.D. program is designed to combat illiteracy and increase fluency and comprension by cultivating a love of reading from an early age. Over the course of a year, our daily book club participants make their way through several books covering a variety of topics: leadership, financial freedom, entrepreneurship, civil activism, and self-love. At the end of every topic series, the Un-Included Club sponsors a public Kids R.E.A.D. event where the children creatively present what they've learned to the community.
Un-Included from Obesity W e are putting down the Twinkies and picking up the tools with our Urban Ag initiative. In partnership with Ag centered organizations, our kids plant, tend and harvest an indoor griwung system, teaching them the importance of fresh food and giving them valuable skills along the way. The iniative also includes healthy living cooking lessons several times a month as well as a daily feeding program that guarantees each child a nutritious meal every day.
Leadership Development Un-Included Middle and High schoolers are encouraged and supported in taking a leadership role in various local and national outreach projects, Kids R.E.A.D. literacy program, and Urban Agriculture activities and programs.
