Goal: To provide supervised activities for children in a social or therapeutic environment.
Objective: To provide a warm, safe, and supportive environment that allows children to play, socialize, express feelings and feel part of the community.
Responsibilities: Social Events - Provide interactive play and supervision to children.
Kids Workshops - Lead or volunteer to help with an interactive children’s activity.
Clinical Volunteer - Assists with supervised childcare during Pediatric Cancer Support Groups. Assists with expressive arts in CLIMB program. Assists with Our Clubhouse’s program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to provide expressive activities to children and families.
Camp Clubhouse Volunteer - Perform various tasks during the annual one-week day camp. There are two types of counselors: Adult Counselor (18+) and Junior Counselor (15-17 years of age).
Qualifications: Caring individuals that enjoy working with
children. Clearances (Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse History from the Department of Human Services) are required for those 18 years and older before starting volunteer work with children.
Training: Attend a volunteer orientation. Additional one-on-one training will occur with the Family & Youth Manager.
Evaluation: Informal feedback.
Commitment: As schedule allows. Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if unable to volunteer.
