Goal: Lectures and workshops offer Our Clubhouse members opportunities to acquire new skills, tools, and information.
Objective: Members build mutual social and emotional support
together by sharing a variety of activities over time.
Exposure to varied techniques and information pertinent to one’s own experience enhances a sense of control and well-being.
Responsibilities: Prepare lectures/structure interactive classes and workshops that are of interest to people with cancer and their families and friends. Work in conjunction with staff to prepare descriptions for the Our Clubhouse calendar and flyers.
Qualifications: Experts in a variety of fields with good interpersonal skills and warmth. No individual medical or spiritual advice is given, nor is solicitation allowed.
Training: Volunteer should provide Our Clubhouse staff with a copy of their resume and any certifications. Volunteer is welcome to attend a pre-existing workshop and meet with workshop facilitator, but it is not required. Volunteer must arrive prior to scheduled workshop for sufficient time to be oriented to the facility and IT equipment.
Evaluation: Member feedback and staff observation.
Commitment: As schedule allows.
