ORGANIZATION: Boys & Girls Club of Vista

We are looking for the following for talented people that aren't afraid to fundraise for a great cause from the following fields: Education, Facilities/Construction, and Corporate. We need someone that understands the role is to fundraise, promote our cause, lead by example, ambassadorship, develop policy, and engage in all planning (strategic and tactical) activities.

As a member of the Board of Directors, you are obligated to be in charge of duty of care and duty of loyalty of the Club. There is also a duty of obligation in that your actions must be consistent with the Club’s mission and stated goals, and in no way should you be involved in any self-dealing or improprieties. Board Members have a fiduciary role in ensuring the budget is met, reviewing finances and making sure generally accepted accounting principles are in place.

All Board Members must disclose any potential conflict of interest and maintain confidential information about our Club. Each Board Member is ultimately responsible for maintaining the health and well-being of our Club and ensuring that management is established and maintained, recruiting new Board Members, and understanding the Club’s mission.

  • Required:
  • Attendance at the Annual Board Retreat
  • Attend 85% of Board Meetings = 5 of 6 meetings
    • Executive Board = 10 of 12 meetings
  • Annual Board Dues of $200
  • One Campaign personal contribution minimum of $500 and at least $2000 annually fundraised (give and/or get $). The average is about $5000.
  • Serve on at least 1 Committee
Attend 100% of all "core events" (or make donation to unattended events

Description

Established in 1963, BGCV meets the needs of youth ages 5-18 regularly at five program sites serving youth residing primarily in Vista and Oceanside, California. BGCV is open "when kids need us most" - after school, on most school holidays and during the summer. BGCV offers safe places just for kids where they can learn, grow, and succeed.

Club programs help Club members build healthy habits for life and how to be resilient leaders through mentorship, accountability while developing a growth mindset.

Club programs include:

  • Education: Career Launch, STEM, music and homework assistance and literacy practice
  • Health and Wellness: health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement and a Children’s Food Garden
  • Leadership and Service: leadership development opportunities for youth.
  • Sports and Recreation: comprehensive sports and recreational fitness programs.
