The Salvation Army is once again co-sponsoring Rock the Island, a popular Christian Music Festival held each summer at Ojibway Island. This years festival will feature Kutless, Plumb, Casey J, and more. We will be hosting Rock the Troops where we set up a display and table to provide postcards to fill out to support and encourage our servicemen and women overseas. We will also be bringing a bounce house for the kids!
We will have a tent and bounce house set up in the community area of this event on Ojibway Island. The Salvation Army will be providing postcards for people to write letters to the troops. The gates open at 10am and the event is over at 8pm. Volunteers are needed to work in the tent passing out postcards, handing out Salvation Army pamphlets, and supervising children in the bounce house. We especially need some strong volunteers to help set up and tear down the bounce house before and after the event. We are looking for volunteers who can donate at least 2-3 hours of their time. We will have some snacks and water available for the volunteers, but we will not be able to provide meals. Island Parking the day of the event is available at the gate on a first come, first serve basis at a fee of $10 per vehicle. All vehicles must enter from Ezra Rust Drive. Free parking is available at many locations around Ojibway Island on Fordney Street and at Hoyt Park on S. Washington Ave.

Mission Statement
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Description
Provides basic human needs of food, clothing, shelter, and spiritual assistance as a Christian church
At The Salvation Army, donating your time can go a long way towards helping your community. Throughout the year we provide many resources to those in need including food, personal items, clothing, toys, and bill assistance. During Christmas we are able to provide toys and food vouchers to thousands of families and individuals. Our major fundraising is done through our Red Kettle Christmas Campaign, otherwise known as Bell Ringing. In 2013, we were able to provide over 1500 vouchers for Christmas dinners and gave presents to over 2900 children, who would have otherwise gone without. For 2014, our Kettle Campaign goal is $275,000. We can only reach this goal with your help!
