Building a Field Education Center for Environmental Education

ORGANIZATION: BLUE HERON NATURE PRESERVE INC

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 3 people are interested

The Blue Heron Nature Preserve is in the process of completing four Field Education Centers that will serve children involved in our educational opportunities like summer camps and birthday parties, as well as visitors to the Preserve who want to leave with more knowledge of the nature all around us even in urban Atlanta.

Each Field Education Center will highlight a different habitat we have at the Preserve: meadow, woodlands, wetlands, and the riparian cooridor.

We're looking for energetic, positive, and able volunteers to help build aspects of these Centers. Each center will contain similar features: a fence to visibly contain the Center, seating including benches, picnic tables, and tree stumps, sign posts set into the ground, a flagstone landing, and a lookout post for scenic spots.

If you like working outside in nature and love the idea of supporting environmental education for people of all ages, please reach out to Brooke at brookev@bhnp.org to get started.
