The Loop Ministries Food Pantry is open every Tues/Thurs between 10am-noon. For volunteers who are willing to spend a bit more time, there are some brief set-up and close-up tasks as well.
Volunteers move pre-packed bags of groceries from the supply area to the distribution area, load them onto carts, wheel them 12 feet outside, and put them on a table. Clients wait a short distance away till called forward, to maintain Covid safety distances.
Depending on one's place in the "assembly line" this volunteer opportunity can involve climbing 6 stairs, carrying up to 20 lb. grocery bags short distances of several feet, lifting bags onto and off of carts, and wheeling carts outside in all Rochester weather conditions.
With the onset of the Covid pandemic, food distribution has grown from 70,000 lbs to 160,000 lbs. this past year. Hunger in Rochester continues to be severe, and your help is truly needed. Team comradery makes this an enriching time, tasks accomplished are very fulfilling, and the gratefulness expressed by pantry visitors for the food given is tremendously rewarding.

NONE OF THESE TIMES WORK FOR ME, BUT I CAN STILL HELP
Loop Ministries is a non-profit organization committed to helping people in and around Rochester's Inner Loop. We stock and organize a food pantry that provides groceries for people in need that is open 2 days a week. We participate in a monthly hot lunch provided by Reformation Lutheran Church where we distribute groceries at the end of the meal. We raise money and organize food collections to help us continue to provide these services.
The Loop Ministries Food Pantry provides bagged groceries to approximately 300 families every month.
Loop Ministries partners with Reformation Lutheran Church which provides a hot lunch on the fourth Wednesday of every month. After the meal Loop Ministries provides a bag of groceries to each attendees.
We partner with Heritage Christian Services to transport food, stock our shelves, distribute groceries and provide job skill training to people with developmental disabilities.
We'll work with your schedule.
