ORGANIZATION: Youth Development Inc. Mentoring Initiative

Task

Meet with a student age 6-14 1hr/week for a school year on school grounds between 9:00am and 3:00pm. Mentors help with homework, play activities, and most importantly are a positive role model in their lives.

Why Mentor with YDI?

According to a 2015-2016 Survey

+ For the past 24 years 100% of children reported that their mentor makes them feel good about themselves.

+ 97% of the children felt that their mentor helped them stay out of trouble.

+ 89% of teachers reported that mentors had a positive impact on the student’s attendance.

+ Teachers of mentored students reported a 68% improvement in academic performance.

The purpose of the YDI Mentoring Initiative is to help children and youth build positive solutions in their everyday life by establishing a caring relationship with a mentor. Just as important is to make adults aware of what they can contribute to the development of our youth.

WISE MEN AND WOMEN (Site Based)
has been working with local schools all over Albuquerque for 24 years!
+ Mentoring takes place on school grounds between 9:00am and 3:00pm; no weekend commitments!
+ 24 locations throughout the city
+ Program provides games and crafts, you pay nothing!
+ 1 hr/week for one school year
