This group is for intermediate recorder players or those who can read music and have some experience playing a recorder or other musical instrument. Volunteer leader must have recorder experience, patience with those learning new music and own reliable transportation. Interested volunteer leaders are welcome to touch base with our volunteer coordinator and come observe a class. Group is free and for Lowcountry Senior Center Members only. Group meets every Monday at 1:30 pm starting in September and usually takes a month off in the summer. Our mission is to promote social interaction and physical and emotional well-being of older adults through recreational and educational opportunities as well as serving as a source of referral services available within the Charleston area. The target group for the activities of the Center are the well elderly with program emphasis on creating and maintaining independence in all phases of life.
Description
We are a Senior Center located at 865 Riverland Drive on James Island next to James Island County Park. We are open Mondays - Thursdays, 8 am - 8 pm and Fridays 8 am - 4pm, and Saturdays 8 am - 1 pm. We provide indoor and outdoor educational, recreational, social and wellness activities for senior adults aged 50 and older.
