We need a pair of eyes attached to a kind female volunteer to assist a senior woman in Norwalk to read her mail. This senior lives alone and has many health problems including very little usable vision. She receives mail that requires sorting and creating responses or action on her part.

Frankly, this senior lives in a home that is deteriorating around her, she cannot keep up with the maintenance of her home or perform many tasks of daily living. In a perfect world she would recieve assistance to perform many independent living skills tasks, but her world is far from perfect. She cannot afford to pay for assistance.

She is hoping for a volunteer that would assist her reading and sorting her mail. This volunteer position does not require any personal care, transportation, cleaning, or household maintenance.

If you have just one hour a week to assist this woman, please contact Teri Hershberg at 562-637-7175 thershberg@scanhealthplan.com. A one time training and a background check are required before you can provide service to her. So please contact us right away. She needs your help!

Our agency is Volunteer Action for Aging, a Community Service division of SCAN Health Plan. We coordinate a Friendly Visitor program to assist isolated, lonely seniors in their home. Our Friendly Visitor program is free of charge.
