Bridge Bread needs you at our retail location on exciting Cherokee Street. You will work a weekly shift of 3 hours Friday and Saturday to start. Your mission will be to ring up sales of bread and rolls made by our formerly homeless Bakers and engage with the community in discussions of poverty, homelessness and social justice.
We offer a comfortable, safe environment for anyone with free coffee, free Wi-Fi, and many people without safe, stable, and warm homes come by to have a cup and to chat. We also give away our baked goods that are beyond their freshness date. You will have the opportunity to meet and build relationships with the people of Cherokee Street and provide a listening ear.
Complete tasks as needed, for example, making coffee, wiping tables, restocking baked goods and coffee items.

About Bridge Bread Bakery
Location:

Mission Statement
Bridge Bread is a social enterprise designed to provide job opportunities for people experiencing homelessness or those who are housing insecure. The goal of the program is to help the disadvantaged engage in a financially rewarding effort that enhances self-worth, promotes dignity and enables them to help themselves.
Description
Bridge Bread seeks to empower people who have experienced homelessness to rebuild their lives with meaningful employment.
Our own Bakery is a highly successful social enterprise that demonstrates that people who have experienced homelessness are eager to work hard and can be valuable employees that earn decent wages. We are a hand up, not a handout to our Bakers. This promotes their self worth and accounts for our success rate.
We want to grow our social enterprise to employ more Bakers making and selling more products through more channels so we can provide further opportunities in all areas of a small business.
Working with social work and business school departments at local universities and with progressive businesses, we intend to find ways to replicate this success in for-profit businesses in many additional kinds of business.
