PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Support those affected by disasters through providing professional health services to disaster clients and disaster responders at disaster shelters, service delivery sites, relief operations headquarters, and over the phone. Services range from on-site assessments to assistance with medication replacements and follow up for disaster client recovery. Candidates must be a licensed MD, RN, LPN/LVN, PA, Nurse Practitioner, or EMT and have availability to respond at a variety of hours, in-field or over the phone. Being able to handle multiple tasks and assess incoming information quickly, being comfortable working in stressful situations, and having good written and verbal communication skills are all qualifications for this position.
OPEN TIME DAYS
1-2 hours (average) per disaster response.
Number of responses vary per month.
REQUIRED TRAININGOrientation to the American Red Cross
Online & Classroom training course list will be provided (approx. 10 hrs of training).
One-on-one mentoring and support from current Disaster Health Services Nurses.
