Birthright of Coon Rapids

Make a difference in the life of a young woman or a family facing an unexpected pregnancy. We conduct pregnancy tests, counsel women as to their options, guide them towards local support services, lend a friendly ear to their problems, and hand out baby clothing and diapers for up to approximately two years, along with a full layette (all necessary newborn supplies) in the eighth month. This is all offered in a friendly, non-judgmental manner, and all services are free and confidential. There are no qualifications necessary to obtain services. Volunteers go through a training session along with bringing study materials home. You will shadow other volunteers until you are ready to work on your own. All volunteers go through a background check (paid for by the organization.) Email us to talk to someone and obtain additional information.

Due to the Minneapolis location closing, we have been especially busy and can really use extra help! We are especially in need of people who would be available during weekday/daytime hours.

Tasks include taking phone calls to obtain information from clients, gathering clothes, diapers, etc. to put together orders for clients to pick up, sorting and folding donated clothing, changing out seasonal clothing, putting together layettes for new moms. We can use people skilled on the computer to do some general tasks, too. Nothing too strenuous physically at all. We are very open for hours and days right now, too. Most volunteers have had the option to choose the day/time they wish to work. Minimum of two 3 hour shifts per month is required.

Volunteers can choose to do tasks which do not require interaction with clients too. We have plenty to do "behind the scenes".

At this time we really need women volunteers who can help during daytime hours. Also, due to lack of trained volunteers at present we are very pressed for time. We will initially contact you via phone to discuss volunteering in detail. If you decide to go ahead with training please be sure you can do so as soon as possible. If, for instance, you are planning to travel in the near future, we ask that you wait until you return to contact us. Thank you for understanding.

About BIRTHRIGHT OF COON RAPIDS

Location:

11464 ROBINSON DRIVE NW, COON RAPIDS, MN 55433, US

Mission Statement

The essence of Birthright is love. Birthright is unique and committed to offering free, non-judgmental help to women facing unplanned pregnancies. Birthright offers love, hope, and support to each woman, to help her make a realistic plan for her future and the future of her unborn child.

Description

At Birthright we understand the challenges related to unplanned pregnancies. We know that it can be an overwhelming and often scary situation. However, we also know that there is hope for the mother and her child. Birthright believes that, "It is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth, and the right of every child to be born." Birthright is her to be the friend that a pregnant woman needs as she navigates an unplanned pregnancy no matter what the problem may be. Birthright's focus is on loving the mother, reminding her that there is hope and ensuring she is not alone.

We offer confidential help, conduct pregnancy tests, and give new mothers layettes along with clothing and diapers each month if she continues to need help. Our services are completely free. We have resources to help with many other issues, too.

We require trained volunteers to take on two or three shifts per month (a shift is three hours). Volunteers can choose not to go through the full training and simply help in the office or in other ways (these volunteers do not work with clients.)

PLEASE... serious inquiries only. It takes time to contact people and train them so we would appreciate you contacting us only if you are truly interested in becoming a volunteer.
