Greetings,
The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is launching a volunteer recruitment campaign, and we’re looking for energetic individuals who enjoy interacting with people from around the world. Our benefits include free parking, training, and discounts at the Freedom Center and Cincinnati Museum Center.
The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center's volunteer program inspires individuals to serve as ambassadors demonstrating the values of courage, cooperation and perseverance for all people. Volunteers at the Freedom Center are sometimes referred to as "Freedom Conductors," to acknowledge the giant footsteps in which they walk. Inspired by Harriet Tubman, John Rankin, John Parker, and more people who had their freedom but risked it to help others. Our volunteers help fight "unfreedoms" by giving of themselves to the Freedom Center in hopes of inspiring our guests and changing our community.
Volunteers have the opportunity to educate our guests about the history of the Underground Railroad, as well as "unfreedoms" that still exist around the world today. They offer our guests a welcoming smile as greeters, help guests research their family history at the John Parker Library, and make sure our special events run smoothly. It’s truly an honor to have them here.
We’re looking for people from all walks of life and ages who have a passion for volunteering, and a desire to promote FREEDOM. If you are that person, please come to the museum anytime during the month of July. If you can’t make it, please contact James Harrington at jharrington@nurfc.org or (513) 333-7523. I will be happy to assist with any comments or questions.
Thank you for your support,
James Harrington
