Summary

The Health Education volunteer will provide support to the efforts of the organization as they relate to coordination of services for older adults. Must have an interest in working with the older adult population.

Essential Job Functions

• Implement health promotion programs
• Prepare and present health/safety programs at senior living complexes
• Coordinate health fairs
• Complete needs assessments
• Attend meetings with senior advocacy groups and health-related coalitions
• Assist with the Fall Prevention Assessments
• Write articles for newsletters and department website
• Develop health-related brochures and handouts

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Computer and Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to maintain professional and confidential boundaries
• Must possess a high level of integrity

Education and Experience

Volunteers are offered an excellent opportunity to enhance career skills, explore career options, apply academic knowledge to the workplace and build resumes. The volunteer oppurtunity provides personal gratification and satisfaction through working with older adults to improve their health. Volunteers also gain a greater understanding of non-profit work and the provision of social services.
