Founded in 1952, the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County has helped many hundreds of homeless cats and dogs (and a hedgehog or two) find their forever homes. We are small, however, with only six paid staff members, and can often use a hand cleaning, running the dogs in and out, and working with the animals, either to reinforce training, or to socialize them with new people. We're specifically looking for people who are available from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM any day Wednesday through Sunday (not every day) who can help us get ready to open to the public.
Still, stay a bit later, and you can play with the cats and kittens, walk, and play with the dogs, or help out in the front office. All we want is a love of animals and a basic enthusiasm - we'll train for the rest!
