Volunteers are needed to help with such tasks as: handle and process mail, pull cases for appointments, completion of reports, agency and community referrals for clients, assist applicants complete forms for assistance, filing, collation for forms, compiling of case folders, fax documents, switchboard duties and interpreting services.
Volunteers are also needed for assistance in managering an on-site emergency food pantry. Tasks involve: shelving food, maintaining inventory, keeping the room clean and in order, sacking food, assist clients complete information cards and the completion of reports.
This is anexcellent opportunity for obtaining office experience. Volunteers are asked to provide at a minimum, one three hour shift once a week.

Description
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission offers a learning opportunity in the Eligibility Services Program. This program helps to provide low-income families with basic food, financial and medical assistance through the following programs: SNAP, (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, (TANF) and Medicaid. Tasks available are varied and placement is based upon the volunteer's interest, capability and the availability of openings. This placement offers valuable insight into social services and the relationships between federal, state, community and individual needs.
