Reading STARS Tutor

The Reading STARS (Students & Tutors Achieving Reading Success) tutoring program pairs older adult volunteers with elementary school students who need help to become better readers. Tutors must be age 50 or older, have a high school diploma or above, and commit to tutoring students throughout the school year. Tutoring will take place at one of these 5 locations: La Puente Library, Compton Library, San Fernando Library, Hawaiian Gardens Library, and Lake Los Angeles Library. Tutoring will take place 2 days each week for up to 3 hours each day (approx. 6 hours total each week). There will be 2 days of initial training and follow-up training throughout the school year.
