Volunteer for O-Bon Festival 2017!

Welcome! Do you love Japanese culture? Are you interested in engaging with people and sharing Japanese-inspired activities and crafts? Are you looking to fulfill your community service hours requirement?

Sign up to volunteer for the Obon Festival (August 4th & 5th) hosted by the Buddhist Temple of San Diego and the Japanese Friendship Garden. In traditional Japanese Buddhist custom, this festival celebrates and honors the spirits of one’s ancestors. Many unique volunteer opportunities are available, including serving tea & desserts, running a Japanese carnival game booth, and much more!

All volunteers that sign up are expected to work the entire shift time- we rely on our committed volunteers . Those who work six hours or longer will receive a free meal during their break . Large volunteer groups and clubs are welcome! After your commitment is fulfilled, you are more than welcome to attend the festival free of charge and explore what else the event has to offer- cultural performances, traditional food, unique local vendors, children’s corner and a beer garden!

Thank you for your time and consideration!
