The Children’s Home of Reading (CHOR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity in Berks County serving children and families in crisis for over 130 years. CHOR is seeking volunteers for their CHOR Day at McDonald’s which will be at 6 local McDonald’s on Saturday, July 22 from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.
This is the first of what we hope will be an annual event to draw attention to the work that Children’s Home of Reading does in the community, recruit Foster Families and genuinely raise awareness of the work we do. There will be free games for kids, temporary tattoos and more.
We are collecting school supplies which will be shared with the Reading School District. Performance Toyota will provide a car at each location to "stuff full of school supplies."

Mission Statement
Your support helps us to care for the needs of children and families in crisis and prepare them for success in life.
Description
Since 1884, The Children's Home of Reading has responded to the needs of children and families in crisis in Berks County and the surrounding communities. While the needs and programs have changed, one thing remains the same, The Children's Home of Reading prepares children for success in life.
Today, the services provided are treatment oriented because the children who pass through our doors face serious barriers to success. They come to us with serious mental health and behavioral challenges. They come to us abused, neglected and afraid. They come to us without hope. While some have loving families that just don't know how to help their children get through these difficult days, many of them have not experienced childhood in the way that most of us do.
