We are looking for several volunteers to assist with our Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) program.
Volunteers should be available to come in every other Sunday, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
The volunteer will be responsible for the following tasks:
-Greet and escort an animal-assisted therapy team (dog and owner) through hospital units
-Assist the department manager in identifying patients who want to participate in AAT
-Retrieve hospital-approved hand sanitizer and towels or blankets from the department manager to use for the AAT visit. The volunteer will ensure compliance with hand hygiene policies for all visits (anyone who touches the dog must use hand sanitizer before and after). The volunteer will also ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness policies by placing a fresh towel or blanket on a patient's bed before the dog may sit on the bed.
Volunteers who apply for this position should be outgoing, friendly, compassionate animal-lovers with a passion for helping others and making a positive impact in a healthcare environment.
