The Latino Coalition is currently looking for a volunteer to watch the children at our westside support groupSemillas de Esperanza (Seeds of Hope).

We currently host 2 bi-weekly support groups on the eastside and west side of Indianapolis . In the group women are able to partake in activities that assist them, in breaking the emotional chains that tie them to their traumatic past.

To better assist our clients, we offer dinner and childcare free of charge.

The Support Group Sitter Volunteer must be:

· Passionate

· Dedicated

· Trustworthy

· Responsible

The volunteer will be responsible for watching the children and ensuring their safety. We typically have about 3-6 children at the group, ranging from ages 5-8. Volunteer can plan fun activities (Latino Coalition will provide supplies) or staff at the coalition can plan activities that volunteer will implement.

Volunteer does not need to speak Spanish, but it is a plus.

Our mission is to promote awareness and work toward the elimination of domestic and sexual violence and its contributing conditions affecting Latino communities across Indiana.

Description

The Latino Coalition is a statewide nonprofit organization that provides support and advocacy to Latino victims of domestic and sexual violence. The Latino Coalition also provides program coordination and skills training to assist service providers and member programs to develop, enhance, and improve their programs, policies, and services to be more linguistically and culturally competent.

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Latino Coalition serves the Latino community in 92 counties across the state. It is recognized as the only organization of its kind in the country that is dedicating to improving the quality of life for Latino and immigrant families impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
