Company Description
Sprouts is a nonprofit that teaches kids from all socioeconomic backgrounds what REAL food is all about. We do this through hands-on cooking with REAL chefs from hotshot restaurants in San Francisco Bay Area, and have recently expanded to New York! With the support of Jamie Oliver and the endorsement of Alice Waters on our advisory board, we fulfill our mission through 5 main programs:
Free Classes at Girls Inc for in-need young girls
After School Cooking Classes for Bay Area students from all backgrounds
Classes and Camps on weekends and school breaks for diverse Bay Area youth
Chef-in-training Internships for at-risk young adults that want to change their lives around through a culinary career
Classes for children with special needs
We are educating and inspiring youth in the kitchen every day, thanks to the dedication of 10 full and part-time team members, 6 interns, 25+ volunteers, and 100+ local chefs.
Operations Volunteer OpportunityYou will work closely with our Inventory and Operations Manager on inventory, ingredient preparation, and outreach to ensure that the kiddos have an amazing experience at our Summer Culinary Camps! We would love help soliciting for, picking up, and organizing Sprouts' inventory of beautiful, organic pantry items and produce.
Your work will contribute to Sprouts' mission to get kids cooking and empower them to make better decisions for their health. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be involved in a program that is really making a difference in our community!
