Mission Statement
The mission of the Community Outreach Center (COC) is to solicit and distribute surplus food and non-food items. The COC is an additional resource for families and people struggling to make ends meet. The COC focuses to create a secondary market for food to limit waste. To accomplish our mission of stamping out hunger we will: Make food affordable to needy families Obtain food and other products and distribute through charitable partners Create hunger awareness and education campaign for public support Offer additional resources and services for families and people in need Reduce the amount of food waste per year
Description
Community Outreach Center was established by local business leaders. After years of supporting nonprofits they envisioned creating a resource that would become a beacon of hope for many families to come. Out of this vision Community Outreach Center was created to serve the 1 in 4 Americans facing food insecurities. Community Outreach Center provides food, non-food products and services to families who are in need, when they need them. We collect food, non-food products and other support from community distributors, manufacturers, retail outlets, individuals and corporations throughout Southern California. We welcome everyone to the Community Outreach Center. Families are able to have a "shopping" like experience when they walk through the doors of the COC. We currently serve approximately 500 families per week with enough food to sustain their families for up to 2 weeks.
