Who mentored you when you were growing up? Was there an adult in your life who made you feel safe, respected, heard, and supported? Don't you think all kids deserve someone like that? If you want to make a difference in a child's life, we are looking for you!

TOGETHER! is a community-based organization that partners with Tumwater School District to bring services to students & their families, and we are currently recruiting volunteers for our brand-new mentoring program!

The transition between elementary and middle school is challenging for all kids, but for those who lack supportive adults in their lives, it can be especially difficult, impacting their social and academic success all the way through high school and beyond. The goal of our program is to help ease this transition for the most vulnerable kids in our community by providing them with consistent one-on-one attention that is emotionally safe & supportive.

We are seeking adults aged 18 and older who are willing & able to commit to working with an elementary/middle school student for at least two years. Students will meet with their mentors twice weekly during lunch at school and at the public library during breaks. We will provide games, puzzles, arts & crafts projects, and other activities for special occasions as well as training for mentors in safety, relationship building, active listening, collaborative problem solving, and crisis intervention.

Each mentor will be matched with one child, but mentoring sessions will take place in a group settings, so that mentors will never be left alone with their mentee. There will be opportunities each week to participate in group or one-on-one activities -- we encourage mentors to allow their mentees to decide whether they wish to join the group or do something individually.
