During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
It's been proven that animal therapy can work wonders on stress, anxiety and depression. We are looking for more trained, certified pet therapists to visit with patients, staff and families at one or all of our hospice locations. Specifically, we are looking to fill spots at our Sioux Falls, South Dakota Hospice Cottages, Worthington, MN Hospice Cottages and Ava's House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Pet Therapy animals must be certified through Therapy Dogs International, Pet Partners or nationally recognize organization. Once certified, therapy pets may visit on an as needed or scheduled basis. If you believe you have a pet that may be a good therapy animal and need direction on certification please also contact us. We can help give you ideas on how to start the process.

Sanford Health is dedicated to the work of health and healing.
Volunteers are an essential part of our hospice team. We serve a diverse group of patients and families and our volunteers reflect that diversity to serve their needs. Volunteers come to us with a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. They are well-rounded, with the desire to share their gifts such as music, writing, art and reading. They may help with light household tasks, such as preparing meals or doing dishes. Some may even help with yard work or gardening. Most of all, the greatest gift volunteers provide is simply being present. As a Sanford Hospice Volunteer, your will to help is deeply appreciated.
Hospice volunteers spend time in the homes of patients and their families. This necessitates an application and interview process to verify the person is right for Sanford Hospice volunteer duties. Sanford also has an organized training program for patient care volunteers. These training programs cover topics including: bereavement support, confidentiality, listening skills, loss and grief, signs and symptoms of approaching death, understanding hospice and working with families.
If you are interested in volunteering for Sanford Hospice, please email us.
