Veteran Volunteers have a unique ability to support other Veterans who have a life limiting illness. Silverado Hospice Volunteers help to personalize, support and enhance quality of life for each patient and their families. Volunteers bring the gift of friendship, companionship and a healing presence to our patients through regular visits.

The goal of our Veterans Program is to match Veteran patients with a hospice trained Veteran Volunteer who may have similar military background. Our patient's are terminally ill and in their final stages of life. As a Hospice Volunteer you will be visiting patients in their own homes, Silverado communities or other facilities. You'll be assigned to a patient as close to your home as possible. We need volunteers who are willing to read to our patients, hold their hand, and learn life experience by listening to the narratives and histories of hospice patients.

Mission Statement

Monikers mission is to affirm the cycle of life by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life. The Silverado standard is to care compassionately for patients and their families and to empower those we serve to have quality of life options that afford them comfort and dignity.

Description

*We serve San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Alameda Counties*

Moniker Hospice honors the value of each life by empowering the patient and family to make supported choices in end-of-life care, enhancing comfort, relieving suffering and supporting effective grieving.

Moniker Hospice Bay Area is looking for the right person to volunteer with one of our hospice patients. The person that we are looking for is kind and patient and can spare an hour or two a week for between six months and a year. We will train you and support you through this journey and we will make every effort to match you with a patient where you get back from them as much as you are giving. We think people that are willing to volunteer are special and we do everything we can to provide you with a rewarding experience. If you have questions, send us an e-mail and our Volunteer Manager will e-mail or call.

WE RESPECTFULLY ONLY ASK FOR SERIOUS VOLUNTEER APPLICANTS. APPLICATION PROCESS CAN BE LENGTHY AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE OUR TIME AWAY FROM PATIENT CARE IS TO ENSURE MORE VISITS WITH PATIENTS IN THE LONG RUN.
