Tandem Biking with Blind and Visually Impaired

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Northwest Association for Blind Athletes

The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes is looking for volunteers who love to bike! We are in need of 10 volunteers who can help us tandem bike the evening of July 7th with youth who are blind and visually impaired. You do not need to have a background in riding tandem bikes, but we do ask that you know how to ride a bike. Volunteers will ride in the front of the bike, steering the bike, while the blind athlete will ride on in the back and help pedal. If you find time to make it out to this wonderful event, contact our Programs Specialist Krista Pomeroy.

Mission Statement

To provide life-changing opportunities through sports and physical activity to individuals who are blind and visually impaired.

Description

The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes [NWABA] enriches lives and provides opportunities for children, youth, adults and veterans who are visually impaired. When individuals with visual impairments experience sports and recreation they have more self-confidence and open up to the possibility that they really can pursue their dreams in both sports and life. Our athletes leave behind sedentary isolated lives and they gain skills, confidence and joy.
