At Blackwater Heritage State Trail resident volunteers are volunteers who aid park staff in the operation, maintenance and care of the trail. In return, resident volunteers get a campsite at no charge and the satisfaction of performing an important and much-needed job. This volunteer assists trail staff by keeping trail grounds and facilities clean and well maintained.

Position Details:
  • Location: Blackwater Heritage State Trail
  • Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms and use areas, maintaining the trail, and other special projects.
  • Free campsite includes 30 or 50amp electric, water, and sewer hook ups. The site accommodates up to 35' RV (*with slide out limits)
  • Must adhere to the volunteer uniform standard
  • 20 hours/week per site minimum
  • The position is 1-4 months, maximum stay is 16 weeks per fiscal year (July 1st - June 30th) at any one park or trail.

About the Park:

Blackwater Heritage State Trail, the westernmost state rail-trail, winds through the historic town of Milton and extends eight miles north to join the U.S. Navy's 1.5-mile Military Heritage Trail, which ends at the Naval Air Station Whiting Field. The more than nine miles of paved trail is the perfect venue for biking, running, walking and skating, along with picnicking and bird watching activities. An unpaved equestrian trail parallels the paved trail.
