July 8, 2017: Color Run: Also known as The Happiest 5k on the Planet, we love chucking color and making people smile. Less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. We are Seeking 200 volunteers to set up, tear down, throw color, check in, clean up, hand out water, and give out t-shirts. Race Day Check In:6:30-11:30am: Be the first face a new color runner sees on race morning. They'll want to smooch you when you hand over that race bib!
Race Day: 7am-Noon: Possible positions include handing out water, revving up the crowd at the finish festival, tossing color and more! Position will be decided on a by-need basis on race morning.
Race Day Clean Up: 11am-4pm: It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it. Our cleanup crews make The Color Run possible. Cleanup crews will help sweep the course and festival areas to ensure all areas are free from debris, litter, and color caused by the race. They will be considered heroes.

Description
Variety- the Children's Charity of Iowa is dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged, at-risk, critically ill and special needs children throughout the state. Since the inception of the Telethon in 1975, Variety has raised more than $100 million to support the children of Iowa.
Variety is making a better future for our community by connecting people who care to programs that enable children to reach their full potential. Variety is helping create opportunities for children to fully share in the experiences of life.
Variety provides funding to non-profit children’s organizations for tangible items such as building expansions and renovations, equipment, programming needs and more. Our Kids on the Go! program provides Variety Vans to children’s organizations; bikes, helmets and locks to children who have never enjoyed their own bike; and specialized bikes for children with special needs. All children should have the opportunity to experience a playground, which is why Variety is working with Iowa communities to provide all-inclusive playgrounds for children with and without special needs.
