he Community Education & Outreach Intern at Planned Parenthood will provide assistance to the Twin Cities Teen Council, a peer education program for metro area youth, by helping with pre-session planning, observing weekly sessions, cleaning up post-session and helping to transport participants (mileage will be reimbursed). The intern will also be responsible for administrative tasks including writing pieces for the TC newsletter, assembling the TC yearbook, and various preparations of educational activities, as well as shadowing sexuality education presentations with potential to assist in the presentations. Qualifications include a basic knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues and social justice concerns, an interest in service learning or political advocacy, a passion for working with teenagers/youth, and must have some weekly flexibility and be available on Mondays 3PM-9PM for meetings. August-June commitment preferred for Teen Council program, or summer semester for Reach One Teach One. Must be a current student seeking academic credit.

General Description: Planned Parenthood seeks a student intern in the community education department. The intern will provide assistance to the Teen Council/Reach One Teach One program coordinators and typical duties will include: pre-session planning, observation of weekly sessions, post-session clean-up and transportation of program participants (mileage will be reimbursed). The intern will also be responsible for administrative tasks including: database entry, weekly meeting minutes and various preparations of educational activities. The intern will be provided shadowing opportunities of sexuality education presentations with potential to assist in providing sexuality education presentations. The intern will be supervised by a Community Education Programs Manager.

Specific Duties:
* Obtain a professional level of knowledge about current topics in sexuality and other teen health issues
* Assist in preparing for and participating in weekly meetings
* Assist in administrative tasks that support the Teen Council program
* Assist in transportation of Teen Council members to and from special events, meetings, and presentations around the metro area
* Assist in coordinating and carrying out political advocacy and service learning activities with teens
* Assist with photography/videography during program sessions and events

Qualifications:
* Must be a current student seeking academic credit.
* Must have a passion for and experience working with teenagers/youth.
* Basic knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues and/or other teen health concerns preferred
* Interest in/experience in social justice issues
* Interest in service learning and/or political advocacy
* Flexible schedule and available to travel within metro area - must be available Mondays 3:00pm-9:00pm for weekly meetings
* Able to commit to full academic year for Teen Council Program
* Must be able to provide own reliable transportation
* Photography/video skills preferred
* Offer of position contingent upon successful completion of a background check
* Supports Planned Parenthood’s Mission

Commitment:
Approximately 10 hours per week over the school year is required (for Teen Council) or for summer semester (Reach One Teach One). Some daytime and evening availability required.
