The International Ocean Film Festival is seeking an Assistant Social Media Strategist!

At IOFF, we are united by a passion to protect our oceans, and firmly believe that film is one of the best mediums for bringing people together and create action.

The Assistant Social Media Strategist role plays a key role on the Marketing Committee of the IOFF, which plans, coordinates and executes a multi disciplinary marketing plan to effectively achieve the goals of the festival. We meet on a monthly basis to discuss marketing efforts and to ensure cohesion - and we’re a pretty lively group that enjoys a chance to hang out!

In this particular role, you’ll work closely with the Social Media Strategist to assist in drafting content, research metrics across all social media platforms, and assist in posting across all social media platforms, based on a marketing strategy designed to promote the film festival, attract new audiences and assist in in keeping our followers informed of the many topics and issues affecting all aspects of our big blue ocean.

Ideal Requirements

  • Passionate about the ocean & film
  • Experience working across all social media networks; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Experience with marketing communications, brand management, or marketing campaigns
  • Experience and knowledge in creating content across all social media platforms to ensure a cohesive promotional message
  • Working knowledge of marine sciences, ocean literacy and current ocean issues a plus
  • Available to meet with the Marketing Committee once a month in San Francisco

The mission of the International Ocean Film Festival is to be the premier global platform for ocean literacy and education through independent film.

Description

The International Ocean Film Festival (IOFF), is the first and largest film festival focused on the ocean in the world.

As a year-round ocean conservation organization the IOFF produces a multipole day in person film and lecture event that promotes awareness around the health of our oceans, and call to actions to protect it. Film programs include award winning independent films of all genres, on stage discussions with filmmakers and content experts, creating a unique public forum on the environmental, social, and cultural importance of the ocean's ecosystems, habitats and its resources. The IOFF has five main education initiatives to fulfill its mission:

  • Global Online Student Ocean Film Program
  • Free Student Ocean Film Field Trips
  • International Student Film Competition
  • International Traveling Program
  • Annual Ocean Film Festival

IOFF will be celebrating it's 21st Anniversary on April 13-14, 2024 at Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco, CA. With an expected attendance of 3,000 people, the IOFF serves as a beacon of hope and conversation for ocean lovers of all ages.
