Description
Our Story
Athletes Without Limits began with one athlete who wouldn’t let intellectual disability stand in the way of his quest to become a world champion. In five years, we’ve grown to nine sports and an ever-increasing number of athletes with a shared dream to reach their highest levels.
National Opportunities
Here in the US, Athletes Without Limits helps athletes identify coaching, training and competition opportunities at the national, regional and local level with a focus on the integration of athletes with intellectual disability into mainstream and Paralympic sport. While our athletes are from all over the country, we’ve established training hubs in Washington DC & Florida (Rowing), Georgia (Swimming), Oregon (Skiing), Texas (Basketball) and Virginia (Tennis).
International Opportunities
The startup of Athletes Without Limits in 2009 as the US member of INAS made it possible for US athletes with intellectual disability to compete for the first time in open international competition including Inas Global Games & World Championships and International Paralympic Committee events, including the Paralympic Games. Athletes Without Limits oversees the selection process, registration and travel arrangements for US teams traveling to INAS competitions.
