Friends Forever

One hour a week can change a life!

Senior Connections, a program of SASI, is a friendly visiting program that matches isolated older adults in the Skokie and Evanston areas with caring volunteers from the community. Our program has been impacting the community for 27 years and continues to flourish with over 85 senior/volunteer matches. As a visitor, you meet with your new friend weekly to go for walk, sit and talk, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea together, or even go out to eat or shopping.

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application, attend a volunteer training at Skokie Public Library or SASI's office, provide personal references, and undergo a background check. The background check is provided by SASI. Families, couples, friends, and even pets are encouraged to volunteer together.

Once matched, we will personally introduce you to the senior and then the two of you will decide the day and time to meet each week. Staff and additional training is available for ongoing support.
