ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association Oregon & SW Washington Chapter

The Alzheimer’s Association- Oregon Chapter is seeking volunteers who have a background in elder care and/or who have caregiving experience who want to provide support to people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their families by facilitating support groups.

Volunteers will co-facilitate Portland's only support group for people living in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease or related dementias. This group is structured so that people living with dementia and their care partners both attend. After an initial meeting, we split into two private groups. Volunteers can choose to facilitate the group of care partners or the group of people living with dementia.

This group meets weekly for six weeks, 4 times a year. Meeting dates t.b.a. Volunteers should plan to be available for 2 hours for each meeting, and should be able to commit to facilitating for at least 1 year.

The Alzheimer’s Association Oregon & SW Washington Chapter is part of the Alzheimer’s Association, the world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. From its offices in Portland, Bend and Medford, the Oregon Chapter provides education and support for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as their families and caregivers. In addition, it offers local support groups, early-stage engagement programs, community education classes and a 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900).
