Asian Pacific Americans Voting & Organizing to Increase Civic Engagement (APA VOICE) is a non-partisan civic engagement coalition in New York City which seeks to empower the Asian Pacific American community to build a just and inclusive society.

APA VOICE’s Get Out The Vote (GOTV) campaign mobilizes local Asian American residents and communities to register and turn out to vote in elections, ranging from local districts to federal through phone banking, door knocking, and other forms of canvassing.

Each APA VOICE volunteer will be placed in a participating organization respective to the applicant's’ preferences (e.g. borough, neighborhood, ethnic group). Volunteers will be trained to canvass for the GOTV campaign, meeting and speaking with residents of Asian American neighborhoods about local and city-wide elections this upcoming fall. They are expected to facilitate empathetic, non-partisan conversations with community members using personal engagement to promote and motivate thoughtful civic engagement.

Responsibilities:

• Attend voter engagement trainings

• Assist with voter registration

• Phone bank and door knock when assigned

• Attend post-canvass debriefings

Qualifications:

• Resides in or willing to commute to New York City

• Willingness and openness to personal conversations

• Some proficiency in an Asian language (preferred)
