Are you volunteering in a project in your community? Are you 15-17 years old? We invite you to join the CONCAUSA generation! Apply in teams of 3 people with a video showcasing your social project (promoting recycling, teaching children about nutrition, providing tutoring to people with learning disabilities, etc.). Preferably, at least one team member would speak Spanish.
The top 17 will be selected to participate in the CONCAUSA Meeting in Santiago, Chile, at the end of November/early December 2018. America Solidaria U.S. (Serving the Americas Foundation) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that mobilizes long-term, skilled volunteers to lead capacity-building projects with marginalized communities. Founded in Santiago, Chile in 2002, America Solidaria has mobilized nearly 1,000 volunteers to serve in projects in 16 countries. Every year, more than 33,000 people throughout the Americas benefit from our collective partnerships with companies, governments, multilateral organizations, and local community stakeholders.
Description
As one of the very few Latin American-based non-profit organizations that alleviates poverty outside its borders, America Solidaria deeply understands the cultural context of the region through its network of regional partners, local development projects, and professional volunteers from the region.
Our model allows America Solidaria to identify the pressing needs of the communities we serve in collaboration with local non-profit organizations. We design and implement high-impact programs, placing skilled volunteers to contribute to the identified projects, typically focused on providing advancement opportunities for children, youth, and families living in poverty.
By emphasizing volunteer engagements with local non-profits, we benefit the most vulnerable communities in the Americas and build capacity among our partner organizations. Furthermore, we provide valuable experience to future global leaders, empowering our volunteers to address hemispheric development issues, to improve governance within civil society, and to strengthen bonds.
