Bike MS

Join us for the 2019 Bike MS Bay to Bay with over 2,000 cyclists riding on October 19 & 20 down the Southern California Coast raising $3 million to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.

The event starts at the Irvine Transportation Center on Saturday and ends in San Diego, Mission Bay on Sunday. Our guest hotel is the Sheraton Hotel & Spa in Carlsbad.

We need many volunteers to support our riders out at rest stops, along the route, at the hotel, startline and finish line. There is a place for individuals as well as groups.

About National MS Society - Pacific South Coast Chapter

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a world free of MS which we will achieve with the support of our participants, patrons and with the generosity of volunteers.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services to people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and fifty-state network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to create a world free of MS.

Seeking out and engaging volunteers to the MS cause is at the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers four key fundraising activities: Walk MS takes place at three locations in the month of April and early May, San Diego, Carlsbad and Irvine. Challenge Walk MS in September is our 3 day..50 mile walk from Carlsbad to San Diego and Bike MS Bay to Bay Tour in October from Irvine to San Diego. November is the MS Dinner Auction at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, guests at our black tie dinner auction bid on fabulous items from all over the world.

The Society also engages volunteers to help influence law-makers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as: marketing communications, public relations, corporate and donor development, medical, legal, administrative and organizational expertise.

Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and body and stops people from moving. Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with MS, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.5 million worldwide.
