This youth was born in Afghanistan but moved to Pakistan with his family when he was approximately two years old due to threat of the Taliban. When he was approximately 10 years old his father returned to Afghanistan to check on his land and never returned or made contact with the family afterwards. The location of his father is still unknown and he is presumably deceased. The youth worked as a shoe polisher while living with his mother, but left home when he was approximately 14 due to frequent bombings and shootings. He ended up living at a refugee camp in Indonesia until he entered the URM program with BCS in 2016.

Currently, the youth has been struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, as he has reported missing his family and has also been dealing with some serious dental and physical health issues. He rents an apartment at an assisted living center for adults, with another Afghani youth from the program. He also works part time in the kitchen there. He enjoys watching movies (funny and action), gymnastics, boxing, cricket, and walking outdoors. He enjoys sharing his culture with others through listening to music, explaining words in his language, and talking about home. He is also Muslim and practices his faith through prayer and occasional fasting. He does not enjoy playing soccer.
