ORGANIZATION: The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter

The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of people living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and their families in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The ALS Association National Office and the ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter operate under a shared mission: to support people living with ALS and to leave no stone unturned in the search for a cure. The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter is currently serving almost 700 people living with ALS and their families.

This is where you come in! We would love your assistance in updating information in our databases with current communications from our Constituents (sponsors, donors, vendors, patients and families). We use Raiser’s Edge and Luminate Online, both databases used extensively by many non-profit organizations, so experience in either of these databases is preferable but we will gladly train you. We just ask that you are comfortable using a computer and are willing to learn. Additional Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge training classes are available to you as well, through our Chapter. If your time and interests allow, this Volunteer assignment can be expanded to include other database projects and/or office assistance which would improve the Chapter’s reach and connection with our Constituents. Discretion is required due to access to potentially confidential information.

Our Rockville, MD office hours are M-F 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. and we would be grateful for a commitment from you of 3 hours per week but we can definitely work with what your schedule allows. Please commit to a 1 month trial period and we can reassess the tasks and timing as we go along.

Benefits for you: Giving back to your community gives you a great sense of accomplishment! You also have the opportunity to develop new skills and build on your existing experiences and knowledge. Volunteerism is great for resume building or trying out something new without a longer-term commitment. We can also provide database training for you to become Blackbaud Fundamentals Certified in Raiser’s Edge, skills which you can take with you wherever you serve next!

Kindly send your resume and cover letter to:
